I received an M.Ed. (Master of Education) in 1992 from the University of North Texas specializing in Child, Marriage, and Family Counseling. I received a degree in Nursing in 1982 from San Diego City College. My BA in Journalism is from New York University in 1975.

Fees

Intake sessions are $140. Fees for subsequent sessions are either $100 for 45 minutes; $120 for 60 minutes; or $180 for 90 minutes. Payments may be made by cash, check, or credit card (VISA, MC, AMEX) at the time of the session.

Most office, phone or video sessions* are held on a weekly or every other week basis to start, depending on the level of support you are seeking. When you are ready, sessions can be changed to a monthly or as-needed basis.

Parents who are bringing children for Play Therapy sessions are encouraged to check in with me routinely regarding current issues and progress, and to meet with me separately or join sessions with your child and me as helpful.

If I’m in-network with your insurance company, I will accept the agreed-upon  co-payment from you, if applicable, and file for reimbursement for the remainder of your fee. See “insurance” for in-network participation.

*While phone or video sessions are always an option, they are not always covered by insurance. You can check with your insurance company to find out if they are covered under your policy.

Insurance and Payment

Insurance companies that reimburse for counseling services usually require that a standard amount be paid (deductible) by you before reimbursement is allowed. Most policies will require a co-payment to be made by you at each visit. If I'm an in-network provider with your insurance, I will accept your co-payment at the time of service and file with your insurance company for the balance due.

  • How much of your deductible have you met for this year?
  • What percentage of the fee will it cover?
  • What will your co-pay be?
  • How many sessions per year are covered?
  • How many sessions are still available?
  • What is your yearly maximum coverage for mental health benefits?
  • What is your lifetime maximum for mental health coverage?
