About Counseling

I believe that given the necessary information and support, individuals and families have the ability to resolve their conflicts and difficulties. As people become more aware of their choices, and more accepting of themselves and each other, they become more capable of finding contentment in their lives. Often, counseling can provide that support and information.

Some people need only a few sessions, while others may require months or even years of therapy to achieve their goals. The length of time clients spend in therapy is strictly individual and is impacted by many influences including past experiences and current support.

Please feel free at any time to bring up changes you would like to see in how your counseling proceeds. Your input is an essential part of your therapy process. As you make progress in your therapy you will feel more confident and ready to face life's challenges on your own.

My treatment approach

Is respectful, supportive, and interactive, making every effort to help you realize and understand how your past experiences have affected your thinking and choices before and how you can think and act differently now to improve your life and find the results you want. My therapeutic approach is eclectic with elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Adlerian, Coaching, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Hypnotherapy, and Rapid Trauma Resolution.

Whatever your presenting symptoms, feelings, or apparent problems, you can manage them.

Working together, I will help you find a way to manage your challenges one day at a time, paying attention to what you're thinking and how you're staying powerful and taking care of yourself. You will become aware of and change old patterns that may have worked at one time but are no longer effective. As long as you stay engaged in your treatment, you will most likely feel better, happier, more encouraged, and more hopeful about the future as you move forward.

My commitment is to stand by you through your process of change, providing whatever support and information I can to help you reach your goals. As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I also work with children in a therapeutic play area at the office.
